The University of Toronto Gospel Choir (UTGC) has been performing since their formation in February 1995 in celebration of Black History Month. Led by their choir director, Lisa Toussaint, the choir has grown over the years to include members from all races and Christian denominations.
In 2008, UTGC had the opportunity to produce their debut album "Send Me". It has received critical acclaim, garnering 3 Maja Awards and 3 Covenant Awards by the Gospel Music Association of Canada. As UTGC continues to spread their ministry through song, they have been welcomed by many groups abroad and within Canada, including Quebec, Nova Scotia, New York, Germany, Sweden and Japan.
